Principles for voice based and conversational UX design are lacking. Fluency disorders such as stuttering mean a users speech can sometimes be different or disjointed and unless this is understood and supported, UX interfaces where speech is the primary method of interaction will become an additional barrier for people.
Can a different way of thinking about voice based UX improve the experience? I think so. I'll share how techniques I use to reduce the effects of my stutter can be applied into digital technology both as training aids and support mechanisms. Leading to a set of principles to follow when designing for voice based UX systems.
